🌱 User Guide: Setting Up Environmental Impact Categories in BigCommerce



This guide helps you enable and showcase your store’s sustainability contributions using the GoodAPI: Plant Trees, Clean Seas app on BigCommerce.


βœ… Step 1: Open the GoodAPI App



Log in to your BigCommerce admin dashboard.
In the left-hand menu, go to Apps > My Apps.
Click on GoodAPI: Plant Trees, Clean Seas.


🌍 Step 2: Go to the Environmental Impact & Billing Section



In the app interface, navigate to the Environmental Impact & Billing section.
You’ll be able to select the types of environmental actions you'd like your store to support.


🌳 Step 3: Select Your Impact Categories



Choose one or both of the following options:

- βœ… Tree Planting – $0.43 USD per tree
- βœ… Plastic Bottle Removal – $0.05 USD per bottle

Click the Update Billing button to save your preferences.


πŸ’³ Step 4: Confirm Billing & Activation



After saving your impact categories, GoodAPI will automatically track contributions based on your store activity.


πŸ•’ Step 5: Choose When to Make an Impact



Under the Impact Settings section, choose how and when the impact should be triggered:

- Make impact for every product sold
Impact will be made with every quantity of product sold.

- Make impact for every order (default)
Impact will be made with every order.
- Optionally, enable Set a minimum order value

- Pause
This disables all impact tracking. You can resume later.

Click Save Settings to apply your choice.


🏷 Step 6: Install the Product Badge on Your Storefront



Let customers see the difference they're making with every purchase by displaying a badge on your product pages.

Go to the Storytelling your Impact section in the app.
Click Refresh to register any changes you have made to the settings
Click the Install Badge button.
Optionally, watch the Install Widget video tutorial for placement help.
Click Refresh after installing to confirm it's live.
